Astra in Practice: Reconstructing a House and Choosing the Right Workflow

A practical walkthrough of reconstructing a house with Astra: what an editable 3D scene is good for, where it fails, and when a simple visual preview is enough.

Watch on YouTube ↗

Use Astra on a real house reconstruction, then choose the output your client actually needs: a quick visual, or an editable scene.

Understand what an agent can build

The goal is not a pretty still. It is to see what the agent can reconstruct, where it breaks, and which use cases that output actually fits.

Tools and time required

Blender is the working environment. Generation time and rendering time are different clocks — keep both in view before you promise a turnaround.

The result is an editable scene

The reconstructed house is not a frozen preview. Objects can be moved and recolored, which is the difference from most image-to-3D outputs.

What the reconstruction gets wrong

More prompts and extra top-down photos made this run worse. Placement errors sat next to a successful octagonal interior — inspect both.

The prompt and the reference images

The reconstruction instruction was simple. The reference photos were unlabeled, so the model had to infer viewpoints from the pictures alone.

Choose the output your client needs

For a building-maintenance presentation, decide first: a quick 3D visual, or an editable model you can keep changing. Measurements stay approximate.
